Successful career woman Takanashi Asuka has an old-fashioned dream of getting married and becoming a housewife. After her long-term boyfriend breaks up with her to pursue his own career goals, she encounters Nanami Ryu, a popular newscaster at PTV. Asuka and Ryu get along well, but the last thing he wants is to ever get married. This level-headed pair who want the opposite things in life should never get involved, except Nanami thinks people will lose their freedom once they get married. Moreover, marriage is just an escape place for a woman. "I absolutely don't want to get married," he said. For Asuka, Nanami is an ideal partner, except for his value concerning marriage. Sumire Iwaya (Noriko Iriyama) works as an editor for a well known newspaper. She is attractive and graduated from a prestigious university.
She goes through a difficult period after being dumped by her boyfriend and getting demoted at work. One day, she picks up a beautiful young man, Takeshi Goda (Jun Shison), out of a box. Takeshi looks like her former pet Momo and Sumire offers to let Takeshi live in her home as her pet.

Tsubasa Ono (Tao Tsuchiya) is in the first grade of Shirato High School in Sapporo, Japan. The high school is famous for its baseball team and brass band. While Tsubasa Ono views a trophy for the brass band, she meets Daisuke Yamada (Ryoma Takeuchi) who is standing next to her and staring at the trophy for the baseball team.
Tsubasa Ono tells Daisuke that she came to Shirato High School after she watched the brass band cheering from the stands during the Koshien baseball tournament. Daisuke is also in the first grade of high school and a member of the high school baseball team. He promises Tsubasa Ono that the team will make it to the Koshien baseball tournament and she can cheer from the stands there. Tsubasa has difficulties learning to play the trumpet for the brass band, but Daisuke cheers her up. She begins to have feelings for Daisuke and they go forward with their dream.
30-year-old Rinko Kamata (Yuriko Yoshitaka) works as an unpopular screenwriter. She doesn't have a boyfriend, but she has two female friends Kaori and Koyuki. They meet regularly at a bar. There, they complain about their situations and go through what if scenarios. One day, Rinko Kamata decides to go for happiness at love and work.
Fumiko Yamada's (Mone Kamishiraishi) nickname is Bun. She is a university student and began living alone this year. She does have a doll named Hokusai. Fumiko Yamada is shy and has odd habits. Even when she doesn't have money or is busy, she still likes to cook.

Banshiro Sakai (Koji Seto) is a lower-class samurai. Leaving his family behind, he works at the lord’s castle. He consoles and solves worries of the people by making food from recipes sent from his wife.
